New Boat Launch Being Built On Maine’s Penobscot River

A new boat launch on Maine’s Penobscot River will be available to boaters beginning next summer.

Officials in Orrington, Maine broke ground on the new boat launch during a ceremony on Monday, October 19.

The launch, located at the end of McGinn Road in Orrington, has been in the works for roughly six years.

The new boat launch will reportedly be named “Baker’s Landing Boat Launch.”

The project is expected to be completed by June 2027. Officials said it will be the first public access from the east side of the Penobscot River between Castine and Eddington Bend.

In addition to the new boat launch, the project also includes a playground, walking trails, a pavilion, and a picnic area.
